Abstract(in English) Developing a portable motion-detective system simply with a Web camera and a laptop PC for the aim of outdoor ethological surveys of animals, we devised a unique noise-resistant method. Basically the method is primitive interframe difference and checks in real-time the space-time connectivity of those pixels extracted from candidate regions of moving objects. The outstanding resistance against noises is explicable in a quantitative manner as the method so resembles to the coincidence technique in radiation physics. By applying the method to the logical AND of two or more binary difference images between neighboring frames, randomly fluctuating backgrounds are mostly eliminated, which is shown with some pictures captured outdoors. The method can work efficiently for selecting motions prior to the application of other sophisticated schemes.
