Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Many routers and switches will be used in Photonic LANs where many optical technologies are applied. If switches (SWs) can be partially replaced with star couplers (SCs), the cost reduction and low power consumption can be achieved, and easy maintenance and management will be expected. In this paper, the simplified network is constructed for simulations. The delay characteristics with/without SCs are compared by the simulations. A necessary SW processing performance for using SCs is clarified as a function of arrived packet numbers. There is abnormal phenomenon of delay increase along with the transmission speed and we clarify the origin and the solutions.
