Abstract(in English) | This paper presents an experimental verification of the relation between the transition of radio resource availability and its prediction possibility in cognitive radio. In this paper, cognitive radio is defined as wireless communication technology in which each node communicates via an optimal wireless system based on recognition of radio resource availability in heterogeneous wireless communication systems. Therefore, it is important to be able to accurately recognize radio resource availability. However, these conditions vary all the time. Under such circumstance, the cognitive radio node could select a non-optimal wireless system. The authors focus on the prediction of radio resource availability to address the above subject. In this paper, the authors focused on IEEE802.11 and radio channel occupation time, which is calculated from packet length and the transmission rate, is used as radio resource availability. We verified the relation between the transition of radio resource availability and its prediction possibility based on the wireless LAN data captured in various real environments. From the results of the verification, when channel occupation time is greater than about 0.1, it is possible to predict the channel occupation time value independent of locations where wireless LAN data are captured. Furthermore, in the case where the time periods when the trend of the channel occupation time series exceeds 0.1 is long, the time series has a higher long-range dependence. |
