| Abstract(in English) | The demand of content distribution services via wireless local area networks (WLANs) has been increasing. Multicell networks consisting of WLAN access points (APs) are suitable for distributing a content to many users in dedicated but wide areas. Wireless multicast techniques are commonly used in these content distributing services, where many users simultaneously receive the same content, because they can efficiently use radio resources by using point-multipoint (PMP) transmission. However, in wireless multicast, the design of effective loss compensation techniques remain to be solved. Retransmission and multiple transmissions from APs are not effective in static environment such as WLANs because channel conditions do not change so fast. Another solution for the problem is packet relay by user terminals; a terminal that correctly received a data packet relays to other failed terminals. In this paper, we extend this method to multicell networks. In our method, packet relays are performed in the boarder area between neighboring cells, resulting in effective loss compensation for failed terminals near the boarder between cells. In this paper, using computer simulations, we validate our method. |
