Performance Analysis of Wireless Multimedia Networks with ARQ Schemes

Abstract(in English) This paper presents a new method to analyze the performance of Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) schemes with self-similar traffic in wireless multimedia networks. Taking into account the self-similar nature of a massive-scale wireless multimedia service and the delay in the setting up procedure of a data link, we build a batch arrival queueing model with setup and suppose the batch size is a random variable following Pareto(c, a) distribution. By analyzing the stationary distribution of the system model, we give performance measures in terms of setup ratio and offered load for different ARQ schemes. Numerical results for both analysis and simulation are given to evaluate the system performance and to show influence of the self-similar degree and the delay of the setup procedure on these system performance.
