Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A black hole attack is a serious problem in ad hoc networks. In this attack, a malicious node camouflages a route reply message (RREP) as if it was sent by a destination node, and illegally receives data packets. The sequence number field in RREP is used for the attack, since conventional routing protocols judge that RREP with larger sequence number indicates a newer route. After the attack is successful, data packets will be transmitted to the malicious node. This paper proposes a new defense method against the black hole attack in which normal nodes detect neighboring malicious nodes using sequence number information. The proposed method considers the communication frequency in the network, and can thus effectively and adaptively detect the attacks. Computer simulation shows that the proposed method performs better than the conventional one with fixed detection scheme.
