Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently there are many systems which need identification of person automatically. In this paper, we propose a high security personal identification system using retinal fundus camera and image processing techniques which have been developed for the computer-aided diagnosis scheme on retinal fundus images. The proposed procedure for the identification is based on the similarity between blood vessel images on input and reference retinal fundus images. Before the similarity calculation, compensation of positional displacement, which includes translational and rotational movement, is performed by the use of "blood-vessel erased" images. One hundred fifty-six fundus images including seventy-eight same-person's image pairs were used for the estimation of the proposed technique. The result showed that the proposed method could perform the personal identification with high security.
