| 抄録(和) | 本年10月15-17日東京国際フォーラムにて第8回垂直磁気記録国際会議(PMRC 2007)が開催された.そこでの発表内容から見られる情報ストレージの開発動向についてデバイスを中心に報告する.HDDでは既に生産面においても垂直磁気記録への転換が行われ,研究・開発では面記録密度1Tbit/in^2の実現が現在の目標となっている.メディアでは交換複合膜と分離トラック方式が,ヘッドではMgO膜TMRまたはCPP-GMRの再生素子とシールド付テーパー磁極の記録素子が有力な技術となっている.1Tbit/in^2以上を実現するための将来技術としては,ビットパターン媒体方式と熱アシスト型記録方式への展開が有力視されている.これらの技術も,まだ記録密度は高くないものの,記録ヘッドの試作や記録実験も報告されるようになり着実な進捗が見られる.新規な方式としては,マイクロ波印加で磁化反転を行う方式や交換スプリング効果を用いた媒体,スピン蓄積効果やナノ接合を用いた再生素子の提案があった.垂直磁気記録のテープ媒体への応用も検討が始まった.HDDでは映像記録を中心としたコンピュータ用途以外の応用が今後も大きく伸びることが期待されるが,同時にモーバイル分野ではフラッシュメモリーとの競争と棲み分けが大きな課題となりつつある. | |
| 抄録(英) | The 8^ | Perpendicular Magnetic Recording Conference (PMRC 2007) was held in October, 2007 at Tokyo International Forum. Technology trend of information storage viewed from the presentations at the conference is reported here. The transition to PMR has been already started in the mass production of HDD as well. The present target of the development is the areal density of 1Tbit/in^2. Exchange coupled composite media and discrete track media are expected to be the influential candidates of the media, and MgO-TMR or CPP-GMR is for the reader, shielded tapered pole structure is for writer. Bit patterned media and thermal assisted recording are expected to be the future technologies for realizing areal densities beyond 1Tbit/in^2. Fabrications of prototype of the integrated head and recording experiments were presented, indicating steady progress of the development. New technologies such as microwave assisted recording, exchange spring media, spin accumulation and nano-contact devices for read element were also proposed. In addition, application of PMR to tape media was proposed. It is prospected that application of HDD will also be extremely increased in the field other than computer applications, however, some competition and segregation with flash memories will become a crucial issue. |
