Proposal of VPFDM demodulator resistant to both Tx/Rx polarization rotations(Receiver Technology)

Abstract(in English) Authors have proposed Variable Polarization Frequency Division Multiplexing (VPFDM) and a demodulator that cancels the cross-polarization interference in the forward link (Rx-VPFDM) in the previous work. This paper proposes a new VPFDM demodulator that can cancel the cross-polarization interference created by not only polarization rotation at the receiver side but also polarization rotation at the transmitter side. From a theoretical analysis of Tx-VPFDM, we propose to add a pre-AFC in front of the current VPFDM demodulator to remove the frequency offset of the satellite and base station before interference cancellation. Due to this additional AFC, the new VPFDM demodulator can be applied to not only Rx-VPFDM systems but also Tx-VPFDM systems. Its performance is evaluated by satellite experiments. The experiments show that the degradation in BER performance is less than 0.5 dB and we conclude that the proposed VPFDM configuration is practical for VPFDM system application.
