Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, the use of conventional single-mode fiber has become widespread, and the communication wavelength band is becoming wider. The short wavelength region is attracting attention as a new communication wavelength region for SMF, but mode dispersion degrades the signal quality at wavelengths shorter than the cut-off wavelength. Some mode filters have been reported that are designed to reduce mode dispersion. However, these mode filters remove high-order modes from SMF, and increase the transmission loss when the high order mode has a lot of optical power. Therefore we propose a novel mode converter that converts a high-order mode to a fundamental mode instead of removing it. In this report, our aim was to convert the LP_<11> mode to the LP_<01> mode in 850nm transmission using SMF for 1.31μm.
