Abstract(in English) In this paper, we present an approach to automatically detect and recognize the traffic signs from natural scenes. The proposed method analyzes the color character to extract and recognize possible territories of traffic signs. Method of extracting possible territories is to use the characteristics of YUV, YIQ and HSI color space from the RGB one. It can recognize the traffic signs by using the color and mutual information of segmented images. From the result of the experiment, the proposed system has proven its outstanding capability in extracting and recognizing the candidate traffic signs for the observed images regardless of size and illumination conditions of input images.
