Content-based Retrieval of User Generated Video Using Frame Clustering

Abstract(in English) This paper introduces a novel video retrieval method, which is especially effective for the retrieval of user generated video (UGV) content. Due to the recent popularity of video sharing sites, the amount of UGVs has increased dramatically. However, the difference between UGVs and professionally generated video such as TV programs, makes it difficult for existing video retrieval methods, which are reliant on shot boundary detection results, to achieve satisfactory results. In this paper, we propose a video retrieval method, which utilizes frame clustering results to extract "pseudo-shots" from the video, to calculate the similarity between videos. Experiments conducted on an experimental data set have proved that the proposed method is capable of achieving highly accurate retrieval.
