Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We have recorded oral presentations given in both English and Japanese in engineering fields to build a bilingual corpus, which can be analyzed to identify linguistic features that can help both Japanese speakers make effective presentations in English and non-Japanese speakers do the same for presentations in Japanese. While the spread of electronic journals has facilitated the building of research paper corpora, little is available for oral presentations because of the difficult of obtaining approval for the use of unpublished content and the difficult of transcription. This lack of reference materials makes the oral technical presentation an especially difficult genre for non-native speakers.
