Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, a lot of researches on Brain Computer Interface (BCI), which records brain activities and applies them for controlling a wheelchair, typing and so on, have been reported. The authors have proposed a thought recognition method using Electroencephalogram (EEG) which can be measured non-invasively, therefore places low burdens on subjects. The Information Transfer Rate (ITR) of the proposed method, however, has not reached adequate level for practical use. To solve this problem, the authors have proposed a method in which recognition results are fed back to the subjects in an auditory way. This method helps subjects to aware of the thoughts they are thinking and to generate recognizable EEG. Although the ITR has been improved by this feedback method, it's not reached practical level yet. This paper shows a method that applies Binary Erasure Channel to Classification of EEG and investigates its effectiveness on the ITR.
