Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigated how the tonotopic representation in the rat auditory cortex changes with respect to performance of auditory operant conditioning. Rats were trained to nose-poke for food reward during conditioned stimulus presentation of 5-kHz tone. In our experiments, training days controlled the performance of operant learning. After the training, we electrophysiologically investigated tone-induced neural activity of auditory cortex under anesthesia. The improvement of the performance resulted in a sequential reduction of tonotopic representational area, the dorsal auditory cortex changing prior to the ventral. Furthermore, this change began at CS representational area. These results suggest that auditory learning induce phased plasticity of neural representation in the auditory cortex, and that the dorsal and ventral fields in the auditory cortex have different functions.
