Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Translational symmetric filter provides a foundation for various image processing. Given that filtered images are observed with noise, the prefiltered originals can be reconstructed by assuming their prior distribution, and following the framework of Bayesian inference. Further, it is also possible to estimate the hyperparamters such as prior distribution and noise ratio only from observed image, setting a criterion of maximizing marginalized likelihood. In this article, we show that diagonalization technique with Fourier transform is applied toward these problem. This leads not only (1) drastic reduction in the computational costs, but also (2) theoretical analysis for the performance of the estimation and the reconstruction. As an example of translational symmetric filter, we take Mexican-hat shaped cell receptive field, which is seen in retina and other visual system, and discuss the optimal filter design under noisy communication channel.
