A Study on Channel Capacity of MC-CDMA

Abstract(in English) Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), which uses a number of narrow band sub-carriers, and multi-carrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) which combines OFDM and frequency-domain spreading, have been attracting much attention for the future wireless communication system. So far, several literatures revealed that the channel capacity of MC-CDMA is degraded compared to that of OFDM because the capacity of MC-CDMA is severely degraded because of the inter-code interference (ICI) owing to the orthogonality distortion caused by frequency selective fading channel. Recently, many ICI cancellers have been proposed to mitigate the effect of ICI. Thus, in this paper, we derive the channel capacity of MC-CDMA taking into account of the frequency diversity gain and the ICI and then the channel capacity of MC-CDMA with perfect ICI canceller is compared to that of OFDM.
