Abstract(in English) | This paper presents synchronization channel (SCH) structure and cell search method for OFDM based radio access in Evolved UTRA downlink, which supports multiple transmission bandwidths from 1.4 to 20MHz. The proposed SCH structure principle is such that the central sub-carrier of OFDM signal is located on the frequency satisfying 200-kHz raster condition regardless of the transmission bandwidth of a cell site and that the SCH and broadcast channel (BCH) are transmitted from the central part with a constant transmission bandwidth of 1.08MHz. Then, the SCH structures specified in the 3GPP RAN WG1 meetings are explained. Moreover, computer simulation results elucidate that the SCH transmission with a 1.08-MHz bandwidth is more appropriate than the wider transmission bandwidth according to the transmission bandwidth of a cell from the viewpoint of achieving the fast cell search as well as simple detection of the SCH. It is also elucidated that the cell search method using the SCH structure specified in Evolved UTRA can achieve fast cell search time of less than 100/150msec for the initial/neighbouring cell search at the location probability of 95% when the inter-site distance is less than 10km. |
