Abstract(in English) | This report proposes a novel MIMO system that introduces heterogeneous stream (HTS) type transmission and blind signal detection for mobile wireless communications. HTS utilizes different modulation or coding schemes for respective MIMO streams. As a merit of the proposed system, no training sequence is needed for the signal separation and detection because of the blind detection. As another merit, HTS can removes the ambiguity in identifying the separated streams without unique words which are necessary to insert in respective streams for conventional blind MIMO detection methods. As examples of HTS, this study investigates the modulation type HTS (MHTS) and timing-offset type HTS (THTS) in detail. MHTS utilizes modulations with the same bandwidth and different constellations for respective streams, whereas THTS utilizes different timing with the same modulation. For the blind detection and channel estimation, the algorithms used in the effective adaptive blind MLSE equalizer is modified and applied to the MIMO-MLSE blind detector. Computer simulations show that the system achieves the BER performance with small degradation of 1dB in THTS and 2.5dB in MHTS from the ideal maximum likelihood detection. |
