Safety of signaling system utilized general IP Network system

Abstract(in English) East Japan Railway Company introduced the Network Signaling System which controls signaling equipment in the station yard via optical network in Feb 2007. This system aims improving of quality about signal construction works by reducing large amount of metallic cable, wiring work, and simplifying of continuity check. This system has a characteristic, which utilizes general IP network system for transmitting of safety related information. In this paper, we describe safety of this system in terms of conformity with the international standard IEC-62280.
