Abstract(in English) Train control system called CBTC(Communication Based Train Control) has been developing in these years in the world, which does not use track circuit. Conventional train control system detects the position of a train using track circuit short by axle of the train. CBTC must be considered additional ideas for safety different from conventional systems because it does not use the track circuit short. SPARCS (Simple-structure and high-Performance ATC by Radio Communication System) that we have developed is a train control system with radio ranging technology, which can measure distance between 2 radios by measuring delay of radio wave. The train position can be detected as placing the radios on trains and trackside. At the same time, they can communicate between train and trackside using only radio wave. This paper introduces overview of CBTC safety fundamental ideas and SPARCS.
