3-D modeling of surface-to-borehole electromagnetic survey

Abstract(in English) An edge based finite-element method has been applied to compute surface-to-borehole electromagnetic survey responses generated by a grounded-wire source for a 3-D model of the earth. The algorithm is successfully verified by comparison with other numerical solutions. Results show that a surface-to-borehole survey is efficient in understanding the responses for deep-seated inhomogeneity. This modeling is capable of providing the optimal survey design for deeper targets and can be used as an engine for 3-D inversion.
