Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An array-type directional borehole radar system was tested in a field test site in South Korea to demonstrate the azimuth bearing capability. The measurement was conducted in cross-hole configuration and a single-hole configuration. In a cross-hole configuration, a receiving antenna array detected the incident direction of a wave transmitted from a transmitter which was inserted in a borehole 15m apart from that of receiver's. In a single-hole configuration, azimuth direction of a subsurface tunnel located 5.5 m apart from a borehole was detected to an error of within 10 degree. We also refer to a shortcoming and future development of the system.
