Estimation of Translation, Rotation and Scaling Based on Random Sampling of Pairs of Reliable Motion Vectors

Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a method for estimating translations, rotations and scaling simultaneously from the estimated motion vectors, and represents its performance with motion estimation experiments. A reliable motion estimations method is used for estimating motion vectors. The reliable motion estimation method uses both of classical block matching method and luminance projecting correlation method. The reliable motion estimation method withstands large motion environments. The proposed method randomly creates the pair of the estimated motion vectors. Then it selects the proper pair using the scaling factor of the pair. The selected pairs are included in the set of reliable motion vector pairs. The reliable motion vector pairs decide the translation, rotation and scaling. With rotation and scaling, is difficult to estimate the motion using block matching method and the reliable motion estimation method. Experiments show that the proposed method enables to estimate translation, rotation and scaling with 30 degree rotation and 1.3 magnification of scaling.
