Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper analyzes gaze behaviors at turn-taking in three-party conversation especially focusing on the behaviors of hearers. The gaze behaviors of participants during utterances and at transition in turn-taking are video-recorded and transcribed. Then, we reveal a transition model of turn-taking. Analysis of the mind labels given by three annotators shows that one of the hearers expresses the mind to speak/not speak and we can suggest that other participants estimate his/her utterance mind to ensure smooth turns. Based on the findings we propose a model of three-layered hierarchical turn-taking structure as a new hypothesis. Finally, we apply the model to conversational agent with gaze behavior and to video-mediated conversation system.
