Balance Control of Power-supply Interconnection in Printed Circuit Boards and ICs for Reduction of Common-mode Current Flowing on Attached Cables

Abstract(in English) In this report, the balance control of a simple circuit consisting of a PCB with an IC having one power-supply line and one DC ground line is considered, in order to eliminate the common-mode voltage at the attached DC power-supply cable. By this balance control, the common-mode current flowing on the DC power-supply cable is reduced. It is shown that this method can be applied also when power-supply lines on a PCB are not uniform. The PCB ground plane is used, in order to control the parasitic capacitances which are used in balance control. The frequency range of application of this method is discussed. Experiments have been conducted on two PCBs; one PCB with a pair of power-supply lines each of which has constant width, and another PCB on which width of a DC ground line is not constant. The comparison of the theory and the experimental results is shown.
