Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In an internet data center (iDC) or a collocation center, the coexistence of two types of optical fiber, namely single- and multi-mode fibers, leads to increasing fiber management and ownership costs. To resolve this issue, we designed and fabricated a dual-mode fiber (DMF) capable of single- and multimode optical signal transmission that has a relatively low optical loss for a tight bending radius while maintaining a low splicing loss with standard single and multi-mode optical fibers.
