Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) we study a design method based on topology optimization with the finite-element method. Since topology optimization can automatically generate device structure in the design region, it may be possible to design a novel optical waveguide device. Here, we apply the optimization method to an optical waveguide intersection, and study on some route modifications. We show that a simplified structure of an optimized waveguide intersection has an improved frequency characteristics.
