Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Time-domain characteristics of the output signal from optical interferometers were analized. The waveform moments of the interferometer signal were found to be dependent on the interferometer phase as the frequency spectra of the signal are. The peak positions of the time signal also vary with the interferometer phase, and a time-domain phase reading method that measures the peak shift was proposed. To demonstrate the time-domain technique, a phase-modulated fiber optic gyroscope and a peak-shift detection circuit were built. By modulating the original interferometer signal with a pulse train, the signal frequency was transfered to a lower one and the signal period was lengthend. With this equivalent-time scheme, the time- domain signal processing system achieved a resolution of 10^<-5> in interferometer phase reading.
