IP over Optical Packet Switch Network with Novel 1OGigabit-Ethernet/8OGit/s-Optical-Packet Converter

Abstract(in English) The interface technology to connect ultra-high-speed optical packet switch (OPS) networks and current networks based on Internet protocol (IP) (e.g., Ethernet) is very important. Recently, we developed novel network devices (called as 10Gigabit-Ethernet (10GbE)/80Gbit/s-optical-packet (80GbOP) converters) to connect between 80 Gbit/s OPS networks and 10GbE ones. In this paper, we demonstrate IP over OPS networks with our developed 10GbE/80GbOP converters, 8channel arrayed burst-mode optical packet transmitters/receivers, and an optical packet switch system based on multiple optical label processing. Almost 10 Gbit/s IP packets are encapsulated into 80 (8λ×10) Gbit/s WDM-based optical packets. We achieve the switching of IP packets over an 80 (8λ×10) Gbit/s WDM-based OPS network with a packet-loss-rate below 10^<-6>.
