Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this report, we study about polarization conversion utilizing magnetophotonic crystal (MPC) waveguide with absolute photonic band gap (PBG). At first, we determine structural parameters of a compound type MPC of honeycomb lattice and triangular lattice and show that an absolute PBG exists in the MPC. Then, we determine the structural parameters of MPC waveguide by guided-mode analysis based on scalar finite element method (FEM) for the non-magnetized waveguide, and show that in the magnetized waveguide, polarization conversion occurs in 14.5 period or so, by full-vector FEM guided-mode analysis. Finally, we demonstrate MPC waveguide and show that mode conversion occurs actually.
