Temperature Dependence of Reflection Spectrum of BOF

Abstract(in English) Dual cavity, thin film, bandpass filter whose FWHM is 9nm is formed by ion assisted deposition of alternating of TiO2 /SiO2 layers upon a single mode fiber endface which is supported by SiO_2 and ZrO_2 ferrule. It was named by BOF (BPF On Fiber-end.) The temperature coefficient of its reflection center wavelength is examined, and is found to be +12.3~14.4pm/℃, 1.23 to 1.44 times higher than that of an ordinary FBG. It is shown that optical temperature measurement is possible by DWPR (Dual Wavelength Push-pull Reflectometry) proposed by the authors, in which the temperature is derived from the reflectance ratio between a couple of wavelengths on both sides of the center wavelength of the BOF.
