Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We report the long range and high spatial resolution measurement of Rayleigh backscatter by using coherent optical frequency domain reflectometry (C-OFDR) with a single sideband suppressed carrier (SSB-SC) modulator and a narrow linewidth fibre laser (FL). We demonstrate cm-level spatial resolution over the entire measurement distance up to 5km, with a noise level 23dB lower than the Rayleigh backscatter level. To our knowledge, the achieved resolution is the best yet reported for a backscatter measurement over several kilometres.
