Optical Wave Coupling Dynamics in Double Layer Arrays of Nonlinear Optical Fiber

Abstract(in English) We investigate coupling dynamics between two optical fiber arrays by use of the discrete coupled wave equations. The calculations are performed with various optical excitation conditions, and by varying the number of coupled fibers between the two arrays and values of the nonlinear coefficients. The results show that when the one array is excited, an efficient power transfer between the two arrays is realized with appropriate coupling conditions. Furthermore, even when the two arrays are equally excited, the all optical power can be localized in one of the arrays by choosing the phase difference of the excited optical fields of the two arrays. The phenomena shown in this report can be used to fabricate optical dividers and optical combiners.
