Architecture and Application of Sheet-like Waveguide

Abstract(in English) This report presents a sheet-like waveguide for short range communication systems. A new challenge of electromagnetic wave application is the short range communication with the coverage area of 1 to 2 m, such as PAN (Personal Area Network) or sensor network system. The wireless coverage area is restricted by high functional base station antennas used in cellular system or waveguide communication system with easy electromagnetic coupling mechanism at arbitrary place in the guide. This report shows the sheet like waveguide consisting of two layered microstrip resonator arrays which has strong electromagnetic field confinement inside waveguide and easy coupling between waveguide and antennas of wireless devises located near the guide. We also present a flexible waveguide structure and several applications of this waveguide such as BAN and short range energy transmission.
