| 抄録(和) | 日本語関係節の処理をめぐっては,主語関係節が目的語関係節に比べ処理が容易であるとする報告から,処理の難しさは階層構造の深さに比例するとの説明(Structural Distance Hypothesis)がなされてきた.SDHが正しいなら,主語と目的語が使役補文に埋め込まれた場合でも,主語(被使役者)関係節が目的語関係節より容易に処理されるはずである.本研究はこの予測が確認されるかどうかを検討し,逆の結果が得られたことを報告する. |
| 抄録(英) | Studies on the processing of relative clauses in Japanese have reported that relative clauses involving subject extractions (SRCs) are easier to process than relative clauses involving object extractions (ORCs). These results support the Structural Distance Hypothesis (SDH), which states that difficulties in relative clause processing are dependent on the structural distance between the filler and its gap site. If the SDH is correct, even if the subject and the object is embedded in causative subordinate clauses, relative clauses involving extractions of embedded subject (Causee) is still easier to process than relative clauses involving extractions of embedded object. The present study examined this prediction using Japanese causative sentences and results were found contrary to the prediction by the SDH. |
