Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An arc discharge generated by breaking electrical contact is considered as a main source of an undesired electromagnetic (EM) noise. Since the EM noise disturbs other electric devices, EMC, as well as lifetime and reliability, are important parameters for evaluation of the electrical contact. In order to clarify effect of operation numbers on EM noise quantitatively, current and radiation noise up to gigahertz frequency generated by slowly breaking Ag is measured and discussed in this paper. The contact current at first operation is rapidly changed at the extinction of the arc discharge. Thus, peak of current noise arises at the extinction. On the other hand, as operation numbers increase, arc duration becomes longer rapidly. The contact voltage for the "long arc duration case" is the highest at beginning of metallic phase. Amplitude of current noise decreases 20dBμA at third operation number after arc duration becomes long. Then, current noise increases at fourth operation, and again decreases at fifth operation. So, effect of operation numbers is not a simple reduction. Arc discharge with long duration may cause much deterioration of surface of contact, and degree of deterioration is varied.
