Abstract(in English) We introduce a technique for the hybrid assembly of PLCs and LN waveguide device. This technique makes it possible to realize highly functional modules with small size and low insertion loss. Furthermore, we report the configuration and performance of three PLC-LN-PLC Mach-Zehnder type modules to which we applied the PLC-LN hybrid assembly technique. The first was an optical FSK modulator consisting of asymmetrical Mach-Zehnder interferometer PLC and high speed two arrayed LN phase modulators. The second was a DQPSK modulator consisted of four arrayed LN phase modulators and two 1×4 coupler PLCs by using the WFM technique. The third was 1 x 4 channel optical switch module employing transversal filter structure. These fabricated modules indicated excellent performances for high-speed modulation and optical switching, respectively.
