Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) SPSM(Source Port Specific Multicast) is an effective multicast method to distribute software to information home appliances. SPSM uses both source and IP address information for routing so that software for various types of information home appliances can be distributed using the same destination multicast address from a single server without having unnecessary traffic. On the other hand, reliable multicast with retransmission mechanism which ensures faultless delivery of software to a large number of information home appliances is indispensable. This report proposes ACK based reliable multicast mechanism for SPSM as a method of effective software distribution to a large number of information home appliances, and reports on the result of performance evaluation of the proposed method by simulation.
