Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Conventionally, FMEA or FMECA, and FTA have been widely applied to both analyses of single failures and of combined failures of products from the viewpoint of design defect prevention. However, a number of fatal accidents by electrical appliances at home-use, due to their design defects, have been recently brought about. This paper practices FTA for forced-draft-balanced flue stove using oil as fuel from a position of safety design. As a result, it can be said that the common-cause failure, namely, a single failure that causes two or more faulty events resulting in serious accidents can be examined by FTA.
