Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Future mobile terminals will operate in the wireless environment where the variety of wireless systems coexist and intermingle, and will be expected to be available for all of those systems. However, it is difficult for a power amplifier (PA) and an isolator to operate in multiple frequency bands with adequate performance. This paper describes a novel reconfigurable architecture which achieves reasonable RF characteristics for a multi-band PA and a multi-band isolator. The PA employs a low-loss reconfigurable matching network that functions as a band-switchable matching network. The isolator adopts a variable matching network at the common ground so that it can operate in multiple bands. Due to their simple configurations, the proposed reconfigurable RF components are compact and available for highly efficient operation in multiple frequency bands.
