Virtual Reality Technique based User Interface Design : Hand Position Detection for Controllability Evaluation of Handheld Devices

Abstract(in English) When developer evaluate controllability of devices, it have limitation of evaluating various interface due to spending the cost and time for estimating usability after manufactured real trial production. For solving this problem, we have to establish the method which is possible evaluation for the instrument's controllability without producing prototype devices in the interface design stage. Also, there is an increasing tendency toward a necessity of improving the development efficiency for user interfaces, input devices and evaluation of human factors to the interface of devices. This paper proposes the new methodology of the user interface design and controllability evaluation with 3D models and haptic device introducing virtuar reality technique. And then we develop the simulator for operation and suggest the method that can experience the 3D interface control by tracking hand movement.
