Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We study the propagation characteristics of 2D photonic crystal (PC) waveguides with a stub (consisting of a finite waveguide section) using the FDTD method. We have finite resonance frequencies, i.e., zero transmission (short-circuited at the junction) depending on the electrical length of the stub. A comparison with other types of PC waveguide filters, for example, a waveguide grating and a resonator having a line defect has also been made. On the basis of these results, we propose a double-stubbed waveguide structure. Since this structure operates as a Fabry-Perot interferometer, we can obtain functions as a broad band-stop filter or a narrow band-pass filter. Moreover their filter characteristics can be improved by increasing the number of stubs.
