Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For high capacity short reach optical links, a miniature optical transceiver is required, which is compact, simple and easy for packaging. A tapered hollow waveguide multiplexer is proposed to combine the output of a multi-wavelength VCSEL array, which will satisfy these demands. We fabricated a tapered hollow waveguide multiplexer using VCSEL array substrate as a mirror and demonstrated the, multiplexing of 4-channel output of a VCSEL array formed on a patterned substrate, which enables coupling into a multi-mode fiber without coupling optics. The coupled power of -27dBm (direct coupling) will be improved by improving the mirror surface flatness and introducing the high-reflectivity DBR mirrors. The proposed multiplexer also have the channel scalability by adjusting the VCSEL space distance.
