Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Since a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) has high nonlinearity, the application to an optical switch and a wavelength converter using it is expected. For the application to a wavelength converter using cross-phase modulation (XPM) in an SOA, we study nonlinear response caused by the incidence of a pulse signal light and aim to derive the optimal operation condition of an SOA by using transmission matrix method (TMM). In this report, improvement of nonlinear response characteristics under the conditions of a CW assist light and a control light is discussed.
