Abstract(in English) We have studied how to expand the tuning range in phase controlled tunable wavelength DFB laser. In order to expand a stop band of the grating in DFB regions for a wider continuous tuning range, the grating with a high coupling coefficient was applied. We formed deep corrugations by means of a dry etching, so that we obtained a coupling coefficient of 400 cm^<-1> and a stop band width of about 10 nm. As a result, a continuous (mode-hop-free) tuning range of more than 5 nm was achieved.
