Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In diagnostic ultrasound imaging, microbubble-based contrast agents are currently used to enhance blood flow signals. Since the microbubbles in the blood vassels have various diameters and various resonant frequencies, the bubbles resonated by a transmission pulse with single frequency component will be limited. We have proposed a multiple-pulse transmission method with different frequencies (called frequency modulation methods) to stimulate more microbubbles. Frequency spectrum of the echo from bubbles was obtained from the numerical simulation, the phantom experiment and animal study. In comparison with the second harmonic method and the amplitude modulation method (AM), which utilizes a single frequency component, FM methods can detect more echo signals from microbubbles with wideband frequency components.
