Device-adaptive Learning Support for Ubiquitous Learning Environment

Abstract(in English) With the development of various ubiquitous devices, learning style that introduces ubiquitous devices, which is called ubiquitous learning environment, has been focused. Physical characteristics of such devices, such as resolution and size of screen, input devices, and bandwidth of the network, are different with each other. Moreover, the learning contexts of students who study with those devices, such as learning objective, learning situation, and expected learning period, are also characterized by devices. In this paper, the method for selecting appropriate learning contents depend on devices is proposed. Personal computer, PDA(Personal Digital Assistants), and mobile phone are focused as target devices and appropriate contents for them are discussed based on their characteristics. In addition, a prototype system is implemented which distinguishes types of devices based on HTTP tags in a requesting message, and provides different types of contents for each device from the mathematical database.
