Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Evaluation of the effects of-electromagnetic waves on human health is social needs since a range of household electrical appliances which emit electromagnetic waves are widely used. In pachinko parlors, each player is surrounded by a number of electric devices; however, there have been no studies on the effects of electromagnetic waves emitted by these devices on human body and implantable medical devices. In this study, we thus measured the intermediate-frequency and high-frequency electromagnetic waves emitted from 5 models of slot machines. In the intermediate-frequency range, a magnetic field of about 1/6 of a power emitted by a portable-type induction heater was emitted at the maximum. In the high-frequency range, one of the slot machines studied emitted an electromagnetic wave exceeding 6.3 times of VCCI (Class2) rated value. Finally, we discussed the cause and countermeasure of the electromagnetic wave by focusing on the liquid crystal parts and LED devices in the machines.
