Stability Criterion Based on System Matrix and Adaptation to the Design of IIR Filters

Abstract(in English) In general, it is necessary to guarantee stability for the design of IIR filters. Then, the method of guaranteeing stability by using Rouche's theorem or positive realness condition is proposed for the iterative approximation algorithm. However, the conventional methods become sufficient conditions to guarantee stability due to use the stable denominator polynomial coefficients and the amount of coefficients update. As a result, the stability domain is narrow and change. In this paper, we propose a design method of 1D IIR filters that applies stability criterion based on system matrix to successive projection method. Stability criterion based on system matrix in the proposed method becomes a necessary and sufficient condition for the guaranteeing stability. Therefore, the stability domain doesn't depend on denominator polynomial coefficients and not change. Moreover, the stability domain is wider than that by conventional methods. As a result, IIR filter obtained by the proposed method has a smaller ripple than the conventional method.
